Blessed Occasion Villa was built in the 1600's as a convent, hugging the ridge above the La Freddana Valley. The peaceful setting among olive trees and vineyards of this vacation rental affords a superb view of Lucca, Montecatinni, and Florence in the distance. Pilgrims from France and Spain used to travel this road to Rome.
Recent restoration has preserved the original atmosphere while updating with modern conveniences and comfort. The beautifully terraced gardens invite nature lovers to take long and pleasant walks along the hillside. The garden is full of old trees, aromatic plants, terracotta lemon pots and lots of flowers. A huge boganvilla reaches to the second floor, welcoming you with its glorious cascades of purple flowers. The lower terrace focuses on a stunning terracotta patio around the pool that overlooks the valley. There is a pool shower here as well.
Because this three story villa is large and comfortable, it's ideal for family reunions, weddings, corporate meetings, and special celebrations. There's even a completely restored private chapel for weddings, baptisms, and blessings. The price includes 3 hours of maid service 3 days a week. A cook and other services are available for extra charge.
The city of Lucca attracts tourists from around the world to its historic sights. The Duomo Cathedral, St. Michael's Church and the streets and squares of Old Town are favorite destinations. A three mile series of ramparts, complete with eleven bastions and four gateways was erected around the city for protection in the 16th and 17th centuries. It's fun for the energetic to walk the length of this wall.
The main entrance to Blessed Occasion Villa ushers you into a huge living room that's 900 square feet in area. Windows the length of the room bring in lots of light and take your breath away as you enjoy the fabulous views of the valley. The room is tiled with terracotta and punctuated with a huge fireplace and open wood beamed ceilings. Down a long hallway are the four twin bedded rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Furnishings include many rare antiques. From the living room there's a large iron staircase that takes you to the unexpectedly charming dining room / kitchen. This section was once a lemon house and is over 600 square feet. It was customary for the larger villas to display lemon trees in the summer season, and because they needed protection in the winter they were kept in a conservatory or similar building and then brought out in the springtime. This special room has been converted to a large dining area that opens to the front lawn through a big arched door. The kitchen is up a few steps and separated by a huge arch from the dining area. It's fully equipped with stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and is used to serve large groups. Also on this level is a bathroom and service room with a washing machine. The top floor has three apartments that are also furnished with antiques and equipped with modern appliances. All the windows opon onto the same fabulous view. Each of these apartments has an all-purpose room with combined living room, dining room and fully equipped kitchenette with dishwasher and washing machine. Two of them have 2 double bedrooms and a pullout couch and two bathrooms with shower. The other apartment has one double bedroom and a pullout couch and one bathroom with shower. The owner lives on the property in a separate section of the villa. Guests are invited to take a temporary membership at the Vicopelago Tennis Club nearby where they can use the tennis courts, pool, bar and restaurant. Here in the heart of one of many wine-producing areas of Italy, your home-away-from-home is an ideal location for short jaunts to the most renowned sites of Tuscany. Florence is less than an hour away by car, and Forte dei Marmi for golf and the famous beaches of the Medtiterranean only a half hour. Pietrasanta, the artists' town, is a must see. Pisa and Carrara and the Michelangelo marble caves are nearby as well.
