Emilia Romagna is one of 20 regions of Italy, situated just north of Tuscany. It's a new region in the RentaVilla.com repertoire, and we're very excited about offering its unique qualities for our clients' discovery. Its capital is Bologna, and its population totals just over 4 million. The abundant resources here make it the second richest region of Italy, and its cuisine is one of the most characteristic.
About half of Emilia Romagna is made up of the alluvian Padan Plain, an extremely fertile area crossed by the river Po. Here exquisite wines are produced and quality olives grown, as well as many cereals and a variety of fruits. Most of the remaining portion is covered by the Appenine Mountains, which are lovely trekking locals, and make a spectacular backdrop to the landscape. Emelia Romagna was one of the areas through which the Romans chose to connect Rome to the northern part of Italy, leaving behind much to see in the way of history, art, and architecture. Along the Via Emilia, you will find most of the towns and historical sites. And on the east, the region borders the Adriatic Sea.
