  • Description

Villa Uzes is an elegant and charming 19th century villa rental located in the heart of the historically rich town of Uzes. Just steps from numerous museums, restaurants, art and antique galleries, boutiques, and outdoor markets, the home is ideally situated for those looking for an authentic Provencal experience. Villa Uzes has been renovated with great care, with an emphasis on comfort, style and classic design. The large, well-maintained garden area consists of a lovely heated pool, barbecue, lounge chairs and umbrellas for shade. A covered, outside eating area with fireplace is a perfect spot to luxuriate in the temperate, sublime evenings of Southern France. The stone pool house also comes equipped with cooking facilities, a fridge and dishwasher for enabling guests to enjoy outdoor dining. Villa Uzes' exceptional location, elegant grandeur and beautiful gardens make it an obvious choice for those looking for the perfect holiday rental.

Villa Uzes is a wonderful property with much to offer the visitor. Carefully renovated and thoughtfully decorated, the home strives for harmony and classic design. The five bedrooms are all comfortably furnished and offer Satellite TV, telephones and hairdryers in the marble-countered ensuite bathrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, stove, oven, microwave and dishwasher. The spacious and light-infused living area has a small library, two sofas, chairs and a lovely collection of art pieces. The formal and elegant dining room offers seating for ten. The pleasant, sunny garden boasts 100-year old trees and a delightful variety of Mediterranean flora. The terrace is nicely furnished with plenty of lounge chairs and tables.

The four medieval towers of Uzès, known as ‘the foremost duchy of France’, rise up in the heart of the garrigue (Mediterranean scrubland). ‘Le Duché’ was the name given to this exceptional group of buildings, which is made up of the castle of the Dukes of Uzès, the chapel, the old dwelling house and the majestic Bermonde tower; the rectangular keep built in the 11th century which dominates the town. The Duché d'Uzès, constructed in 1565, and known as the first duchy of France, is the oldest surviving duchy in France. The Duke of Uzès has precedence over all the noble houses in France after the royal family. Today, Jacques de Crussol d'Uzès is the 17th Duke of Uzès.

The villa was everything we had hoped for. The pool was excellent as was the location. The housewares and amenities were outstanding. The caretaker was responsive to our requests and questions.

Staying at Villa Uzes was an absolute joy. Our group of 10 family members from australia- some couples, some singles, ranging in age from 30 to 83, all had the most amazing week here. The house is simply divine with everything you could possibly want, except sharp knives in the kitchen and toilet paper or soap in the 6 bathrooms. The house has an abundance of cooking and serving ware- truly an incredible amount of every kind of plate, platter, pot, and bowl you could ever imagine, but not a single sharp knife in the place. Where to begin to describe this place- the maison and the town of Uzes? Accompanying photos can not do justice the this grand home with its lush garden and huge pool. And then there is the pool house! There are 5 double bedrooms all with ensuite over 2 levels- 3 upstairs and 2 down, and an extra powder room upstairs. Bathrooms are mostly marble and mostly very large. Some have separate bath and shower, one has only a shower. Most of the house has spectacularly tiled floors- stunning. The house is perfectly situated just off the main street of the town very near the main square of the town. The street is very quiet, it's one way and there was little traffic. The house has a very high fence for extra protection. There is a locked gate for privacy and security. It is in walking distance to everywhere- shops, a myriad of restaurants, tourist attractions and cultural sites. The town is magnificent. We did take 2 day trips- one to St Remy de Provence on market day and one to Les Baux de Provence. Both of these are within an hours drive of Uzes and both worth the effort of dragging yourself away from the town and house. We spent hours swimming in the pool and had drinks every night in the garden before eating in the outdoor dining room most rooms. We did eat out a couple of nights during our stay but it was just so pleasant in and around the house that we were not motivated to go out much. Each of us had a fantastic time at Villa Uzes. Would highly recommend it to people looking for a similar holiday.

Thank you for a fabulous week with family at your house. We have had such an amazing time, the children have loved the pool, and the adults the outdoor kitchen. We hope to return and wish all the best.
