Casa Meina

Casa Meina is a spacious and comfortable cozy house, sleeping eight guests with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. It is located just one kilometer uphill from the village of Meina - a peaceful lakeside town with cobbled streets on the western shore of Lake Maggiore. Casa Meina is not on the lakeshore but is located above the lake and the village. Because of its position, the cottage enjoys magical views of the lake and the mountains beyond. The small manicured garden features a panoramic pool.

Meina has shops, services, restaurants, and a sports center with tennis and pool. There are eight golf courses within 15-40 minutes’ drive. The town of Stresa is 10 km north while Arona is four kilometers south. Switzerland is just half an hour away. Milan is easily connected by train.

Casa Meina (190 sq meters) is furnished in a modern style with lively colors. The floors are covered with tiles and large windows provide great views of the lake. On the main floor is a living area with a lake view and cozy fireplace, a dining room seating 6/8 guests, a nicely-equipped kitchen (oven, stove, microwave, fridge/freezer, coffee maker, dishwasher, breakfast table) with direct access to the garden, two double bedrooms and two bathrooms. On the second floor are two comfortable double bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. There is a laundry room in the basement.

Lake Maggiore offers visitors spectacular gardens (boasting exceptional collections of camellias, azaleas and rhododendrons), historic villas and castles, sacred routes, and medieval churches. An impressive number of parks are located here such as the Parco Nazionale della Val Grande (the largest wilderness area in Italy). The mountains beyond the lake are wonderful, and each little village with its painted houses seems a terrace on the water. In the center of the lake float the three enchanted Borromeo Islands: The Isola Madre, Isola Bella (where the Borromeo palaces and gardens are), and the charming Isola dei Pescatori (fishermen island). Visit the 20 frescoed small chapels of the Sacro Monte above Orta San Giulio, with their terracotta sculptures illustrating scenes from the life of Saint Francis. From Orta's charming lakeside square you can admire the island of San Giulio, dominated by the ancient basilica and the convent. A little farther in the inland is the Villa della Porta-Bozzolo in Casalzuigno, a masterpiece of early eighteenth-century landscaping.

There are many sports activities available in and around Lake Maggiore such as sailing, water skiing, canoeing, golfing (7 golf courses in the area), trekking, and horseback riding.
