Driving through the gates of Villa Augusta and capturing sight of the beautiful house through the exotic palm trees is only the first taste of the magic to come. This is truly one of the finest historic villas in Sicily and needs to be seen to be believed. The property has been in the hands of the same Sicilian noble family since the 12th century. Its elegant and grand interiors will transport you back in time while modern luxury will keep you comfortably in the present.

Exotically planted gardens and fragrant citrus groves surround the villa. The property is an oasis of tranquility, beauty and exceptional hospitality, not too far from the coast, on this island rich in history and color. The beautiful gardens (also part of the Great Italian Gardens Network, and open for private visits from time to time), are rich in fragrant citrus groves, palm trees, all types of plants and trees and carefully manicured lawns. The pool area is surrounded by palm trees providing natural shade for lying beneath the deep blue Sicilian sky with a glass of chilled white wine. Behind the pool is the exotic "hortus conclusus", the Andalucian-Arabic garden with numerous water features and Mediterranean fragrances. Not far from the pool ground and garden, you will find the fenced tennis court.

The property is part of a larger farm of 3000 hectares of land, cultivated with citrus groves, vineyards, olive groves, and other kinds of cultivation. In the background you can admire the majestic view of Mount Etna. Ideal for a large family gathering or a special occasion with friends where one can enjoy superb cuisine, total luxury and the magic of Sicilia!

A large enclosed courtyard with a fabulous fig tree in the center leads to the main part of the house and other buildings. The house has recently been restored and the decor, fixture and fittings perfectly compliment the beautiful antique furniture and collectable artwork that has been passed on through generations of this remarkable family.

GROUND FLOOR: As soon as you enter the main villa you will be surprised by a truly magnificent and warm home. The entrance hall of the this part of the house accesses a generous double living room with vaulted ceilings and a large fireplace to one side and the spacious dining room with its beautiful original Sicilian tiled floor to the other. This latter leads into a second double living area and a large, fully equipped kitchen.

FIRST FLOOR: 5 Double bedrooms - Sleeps 10
Upstairs the five double bedrooms are all spacious and beautifully appointed and all the ensuite bathrooms have recently been restored to the highest of standards with superb baths and separate walk-in showers.

Bedroom 1 - double bedroom with en suite bathroom with double sink, Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. This bedroom has a working fireplace and a ceiling fan. (Please note: it is not air conditioned, but it is possible to add an AC portable unit.)
Bedroom 2 – double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with double sink, bathtub and separate shower. This bedroom has a working fireplace and air conditioning.
Bedroom 3 – double bedroom with ensuite green marble bathroom, with double sink, bathtub and separate shower. Air conditioning.
Bedroom 4 – double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with double sink, bathtub (with shower head ). Air conditioning.
Bedroom 5 – double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with double sink and large shower.
All the bedrooms are also provided with heating for winter rental.

Also on the ground floor, on the internal courtyard there is another part of the house, with four twin bedrooms and two bathrooms. This part of the house is usually used for children and nannies. No Air conditioning.

There are three other (twin) bedrooms, which are all connected and share a small living room and a bathroom with double sink, shower and bathtub.

Villa Augusta is a fully serviced villa and the expert, discreet administration of the butler, maids and cook will ease the guests through each moment of their stay making sure they never have to lift a finger. For meals, just let the staff know day by day whether you require lunch and/or dinner, tell them of any preferences you may have and they will organize everything else. Food and drink bills are paid locally, giving you complete flexibility to experience the best and freshest local products.

Villa Augusta is situated in the gently rolling hills just inland from the coast between Catania and Siracusa. The nearest beach is a 15-minute drive away in Brucoli, though there is a wide selection of beautiful sandy beaches within 30 and 45 minutes. Ancient, historic, delightful Syracuse is just 30 minutes' drive away, while slightly further afield Taormina, Mount Etna, Noto, Modica, Ragusa (Unesco World Heritage Sites), are all good day trips. Also nearby is the owner's winery, offering an excellent selection of Sicilian style wines.
